If you own a Limitless Pendant
Meta bought Limitless, and support for the Pendant runs to the end of 2026. Here's how to use it well in the time that's left, how to get your recordings out before they're gone — and why you probably don't have to throw the hardware away.
Limitless committed to supporting Pendant owners through 2026. That puts the end of the road at 31 December.
What happened
In December 2025, Meta acquired Limitless. The Pendant was not relaunched or folded into something bigger — it was put on a timer. Rewind, the company's earlier product, was shut off outright.
Existing owners were treated decently, as these things go: everyone was moved onto the paid Unlimited plan for nothing, with no subscription to keep up. But the direction of travel is not in question.
Meta announces the acquisition. New Pendants are no longer sold. Existing owners move to the Unlimited plan free of charge.
Screen and audio capture from the computer apps ends. The pendant itself keeps recording; the software around it starts shrinking. Rewind shuts down the same day.
Brazil, China, the European Union, Israel, South Korea, Turkey and the United Kingdom. Users there had until that date to download everything; accounts and stored data were then permanently deleted.
For everyone else the pendant records, transcribes and answers questions as it always did. This is the window to get your history out and decide where you're going.
Support was promised "throughout 2026" and no date beyond it has been published. Plan for the service to stop; be pleasantly surprised if it doesn't.
Dates here come from Limitless's and Meta's own public announcements. If you're in one of the seven regions above, the deletion has already happened — there is nothing left to export.
Using it well
Plenty of owners never used half of what the Pendant does. If it's going to stop, it may as well earn its keep first.
Do this now
This is the part with a deadline attached, and the part nobody enjoys doing. It takes about twenty minutes. Please don't leave it until December — a history like this cannot be re-recorded.
Go to app.limitless.ai/data-exports and ask for your data. Choose the text-only option. It produces a much smaller file, and it is the version that moves cleanly into other software.
If you also want the audio, request it separately rather than in one enormous bundle.
Alongside the big export, the app lets you pick sections in the Lifelog view with the checkboxes and Copy the summaries or transcripts in a few formats. The three-dots menu in the corner offers download audio for what you've selected.
Use this for the handful of conversations you'd genuinely grieve — a diagnosis, a last conversation, a grandchild. Keep those somewhere of your own, not only inside a ZIP.
Unzip it. Read a few of the transcripts. An export you never opened is not a backup — it's a hope.
An external drive, a second computer, a family member's machine. Two copies in two places is the old rule and it's still the right one.

The path forward
This is the thing most Limitless owners don't know, and it's the best news on this page: your hardware can outlive the service. The Pendant can be paired with Omi — an open-source app and backend that anyone can run — and it keeps recording.
Omi even has an import built for exactly this: you take the ZIP from the step above and load your old transcripts into it, so your history comes with you instead of being abandoned.
Install the Omi app, then go into your phone's Bluetooth settings and forget the Pendant there. This step is not optional — a lingering system pairing is the most common reason the move fails.
If it's showing solid red, hold the button for ten seconds or more until that clears. Then do a quick double-press — a tap, then immediately hold — and watch for a purple light while you're holding. Release when the purple goes. A solid blue light means it's ready to pair.
In the Omi app, tap Connect at the top left and choose your pendant. Pair inside the app; pairing it in the phone's settings is what breaks it.
In Omi, go to Profile → Import Data and select the ZIP from your Limitless export. If an export that included audio refuses to import, delete the Audio and Meetings folders from it, re-zip, and try again; very large files may need splitting.
Know the limit going in: Omi imports transcripts, not audio. Your written record moves across. The recordings themselves you keep separately, which is why step two of the export matters.
Keep the Omi app running in the background — force-closing it stops the stream. Keep the phone within a few feet of the pendant. Pair it to one phone only, and on Android turn off aggressive battery optimisation for the app. English is the most accurate language by some margin.
It is a second life for the hardware, not a seamless upgrade. But it is a second life that no acquisition can take away, because there is no company in the middle who can switch it off.
Free, open source, and your pendant keeps working. You do the setup yourself and live with a few rough edges. The most frugal answer by a distance.

Nobody outside Meta knows precisely. What was said publicly is that Pendant customers would be supported throughout 2026 — no date past that has been announced. Sensible planning is to have your data out and a replacement decided well before the year ends, and to treat any extension as a bonus.
Sadly this page is history rather than advice for you. The service ended in those regions on 19 December 2025 and account data was deleted afterwards. If you still have the hardware, the Omi route above is the useful part — the pendant itself can be brought back into service.
You shouldn't, and that's the point. The question isn't whether a company will be honourable — it's whether it can switch your memory off. When the software is open and the record sits on equipment you own, there is no switch to flip. That's the whole reason we build the Keeper the way we do.
Outside the seven affected regions, no — the export at app.limitless.ai/data-exports is still there. Do it this week rather than this winter. Export tools have a way of becoming unreliable exactly when everyone rushes to use them.
