Based Hardware Active
The open one. Rough, and the only device here that can outlive its maker.
At a glance
Is it open source?
Genuinely open, and not in the marketing sense. The circuit schematics, the firmware, the phone app and the server software are all published under the MIT licence. You can read them, fork them, and run the backend yourself. That is the entire argument for this device.
Against the Limitless Pendant
This is the one Limitless owners should look at first, because it is the only device that will talk to the pendant you already own. Factory-reset the Pendant, pair it through Omi, and it keeps recording after Meta switches the lights off. Your transcripts import too. Against Limitless it is rougher and less polished, and the battery is worse — but it cannot be taken away from you, which is precisely the problem you are living through.
Tinkerers, developers, and anyone who has just been burned by an acquisition and doesn’t intend to be again.
Not for: Anyone who needs a device that simply works out of the box with someone to ring when it doesn’t.
