What it does

  • Retain any of your data; owners were told to download before erasure
  • Have any community route to revival, because nothing was published

Is it open source?

No

Closed, and the consequence was total. When HP acquired the software, patents and team for $116 million, the Pins became jewellery within days. Nothing was open, so nobody could keep it running. If you want a single argument for why the open-source question on this page matters, it is this device.

Humane is what happens at the far end of the road Limitless is currently travelling. Limitless owners at least got a year of notice, a free plan and an export tool. Humane owners got about a week and a deletion date. Keep that in mind when deciding how long to leave your own export.
